Finding hope

"The low light of autumn has a way of showing the beauty in everything."

Getting used to coping with the end of Summer and the beginning of decay.
Why is it so difficult to accept the changing of the seasons?

“Is it because we know we are mortal
that we prize what’s ephemeral
beyond rubies?
Is it because we see the rose fade
that we furnish her dropped petals
with dignity?

How tenderly we cradle the dying
Like Snowwhite in her glass cage
Not quite gone but going
As we know we are ourselves going
With or without the dignity
That Nature sometimes gifts”.

Above a [ double ] shadow of their former self,
and yet a promise for the future.
Or a reminder of the past. The wild geranium [ not pelargonium] seedpods.

Geranium 'Verity' and Campanula 'Tom Thumb' in full glory at what seems merely a few weeks back.

These trees with their magnificent crowns, are just about to turn.

  1. Hey there, Your first shadowy photo is wonderful. Clematis maybe? And who doesn't love geranium, "Verity" is a new one for me. I hope your trees turn to brighter colors than the trees around here have...dull! Have a colorful weekend. Tom The Backroads Traveller

  7. This is a wonderfully elegiac post for the arrival of Autumn - perhaps not just the season, but also the Autumn of life: Both mellow times when we enjoy the fruits of seeds sown in previous seasons. Gorgeous photos!
