Blue Vase
Blue vase with roses
textured with kk-just-cause
For Kim at Texture Tuesday.
Link below on page.
I have embarked on a translation of the Omar Khayyam poems.
Not easy, but it gives me great pleasure to try and illustrate what I have written.
Your vase with the roses is beautiful. I love the processing of the last shot. The poem is a perfect fit. Are you actually translating the poems from Persian (Farsi?) into English or do you mean putting them into images? Sorry if this is a stupid question.
@Carola, Not a daft question at all: it is a confusing situation. The poems were written in the 12th century in their original language. About the time of our poet Geoffrey Chaucer, "Canterbury Tales" et al. He was one of the first to start writing in English again, after the Norman Conquest had subdued the English language in favour of French and Latin. Just to put it in perspective.
The Omar Khayyam poems were never very visible in Europe. Then people started to translate his work into French, German and rather roughly, into English. Some translations came via-via and that is a traditon that I am following: I use the different European languages to try and get behind the meaning of these poetic gems and then write it from scratch according to how I understand it. Then comes the image, which is the part I like best.
Beautiful! Love your texturing on the last shot. So watercolor-y.
ReplyDeletePretty flowers. Lovely words and texture on the last image.

Beautiful poem and image, I love the spotted textures on this image.
